We’re building the power plant for your mobile life

Sprout is a window mounted system that gathers solar energy to charge nearly any USB device.

Tap into a surplus of power

The sun provides a continuous power supply right outside your window. Sprout converts this into usable energy for your smartphones and tablets.

Collect solar power by day

When the sun rises and begins providing power, Sprout absorbs and stores it. Plant one outside of your window and it will charge itself from sunup to sundown.

Charge your devices at night

Sprout’s onboard battery stores energy during the day so you can comfortably charge your devices at night. The charge indicator lets you know how much power it has remaining to give you peace of mind.

Number of Devices

Once Sprout is completely powered up, it can fully charge a tablet once or a smartphone 8 times! Sprout has 2 USB ports so you can charge 2 phones at once.

Getting off the Grid

Sprout’s purpose is to get mobile devices off the coal powered grid. To achieve this, we knew the most important aspect would be reliability, so we designed around two core principles: efficiency and dependability.

Tons of battery capacity

Sprout battery packs a whopping 13,200 mAh charge. This gives you the energy needed to power up multiple devices, and prepares you for cloudy days. Sprout makes sure to have reserve power when you need it.

An outdoor solar panel

Windows filter, absorb and reflect the light spectrums needed to generate photovoltaic energy. The majority of modern windows even have e-coatings which further reduce these light spectrums. By sitting outside your window, Sprout meets this challenge head-on to collect as much power as possible.

13,200 mAh of Power

When fully charged, Sprout can charge an iPhone 5 more than 8 times!

100% Clean Energy

Sprout gets all of it’s energy from the sun, making every charge 100% sustainable.

Weather Proof

We’ve engineered Sprout to be used all year round. Energy comes in. Nothing else.

No Permanent Installation

Sprout is easy to setup and remove. Plant it in your windowsill, drop your window and start storing renewable power.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is mAh?

A milliampere hour (mAh) is 1000th of an ampere hour (Ah) and is a common measurement of battery capacity. For example, an iPhone 5s has the battery capacity of 1,560 mAh and Sprout’s internal battery has 13,200 mAh. This means Sprout’s battery can charge an iPhone 5s more than 8 times.

How long does it take to fully charge Sprout’s internal battery?

This will vary upon your location and the weather condition. On average, Sprout can charge it’s internal battery by 50% (or 6,600 mAh) on a sunny day. On cloudy days it will charge about 20% of it’s battery.

How long does it take to fully charge a device on Sprout?

It should take roughly the same amount of time to charge your smartphones and tablets on Sprout as a wall outlet would. The time might be a little long if Sprout’s internal battery is very low.

How will Sprout be connected to my window?

Sprout is designed to install in minutes, with no tools. It’s secured with tension mechanisms that make the interior face of Sprout wider than your window opening.

With Sprout installed, will my window still be airtight?

Sprout is designed to block transfer of exterior conditions to interior and vice versa. Sprout acts as an extension of your window.

What will the final product look like and when can I see it?

We will reveal a prototype of Sprout once we launch our crowd-funding campaign this Spring.

Can I charge an external battery or hook up a USB hub to Sprout to charge more than 2 devices at once?

Yes you can! Most USB devices are compatible with Sprout.
